Sacramento Valley Live Steamers Railroad museum "SVLSRM" is located in a beautiful setting at Hagen Community Park in Rancho Cordova, California. The Club was started in about 1965 and completed the track with a Golden Spike ceremony in 1973. The original track was about 1,825 ft loop. In 1989 we acquired 7 acres of land adjacent to our area and were able to expand. The main line is now over 6,300 ft with many sidings and several yards. The ride is scenic as the track passes through tree'd areas, as well as a fine view of the American River which passes within 100 ft of the railroad. The railroad also features 3 Wooden Trestles, a 40ft Truss Bridge as well as a girder deck bridge. Several grades including one on an "S" curve which gives opportunity for the steamers to show their stuff. The track is 7 1/2" and 4 3/4" gauge, IBLS wheel standards. Visit our web site for schedule of run days. |

Sonora Short Line Railway is a 12" gauge 1/3 size narrow gauge passenger hauling railway. The railroad has been modeled after narrow gauge equipment from around the turn of the century. Motive power consists of an early 1900's American steam locomotive and a 1927 Plymouth locomotive which is diesel powered. The railroad is located at a local apple ranch called Cover's Apple Ranch (formerly Sonka's Apple Ranch) in Tuolumne County near Sonora, California. The ranch features a bakery and a gift shop. The steam powered train ride is 10 minutes long and takes you through scenic areas of the apple ranch. The ride is for young and young at heart, with almost half of our riders being adults. The grading is typical of a narrow gauge railroad and reaches 2.5% to 3% in some places. This makes the ride more interesting due to the hard workout that our American style locomotive (Rosie) has to do to make it up the grades. We are open every Saturday and most holidays. |

Locomotive Operators of Central Oklahoma, Inc. (LOCO) is a nonprofit corporation that is dedicated to the enjoyment of large scale model railroading. LOCO operates a 7-1/2 inch gage (distance between the rails) railroad on five acres of land, located fifteen miles east of Oklahoma City. We have a half mile of main line track and an equal length of sidings, spurs, and yard track; for a total of one mile! The track is laid out as a modified figure eight, with four bridges, a tunnel and a crossing. The main line track has a minimum fifty foot turn radius and a maximum three percent grade. The club has available to its members a 4-4-2 (Atlantic) live steam locomotive and a GP-7 diesel locomotive. Both locomotives are open for club members to run at their leisure. Along with the club locomotives there are numerous locomotives privately owned by club members. Any one who wants to build their own locomotive will find that the club members have extensive knowledge in the construction and running of locomotives. LOCO has come a long way from its humble beginnings and we have big plans for the future. At present the land that the club is located on is privately owned. The advantage to this has been that the club has put all its funds toward building and expanding the track. The disadvantage is that if anything happened to the land owner the club will be faced with buying the land immediately or relocating the track to a new location. Fortunately LOCO has had the best of both worlds. We have built a world class railroad and are now going through the legal steps to set up a rent to own agreement with the land owner. Not only is the club working to purchase the land that the club uses now, but LOCO is also trying to buy an additional five acres of land. With the additional five acres the track can be laid in such a fashion that we can actually quadruple our main line to two miles! LOCO is a member of a larger parent organization called Southwestern Live Steamers (SWLS). SWLS has tracks all over Texas and Oklahoma. During the summer months SWLS hosts meets at their various tracks. LOCO hosts a SWLS meet on the last weekend in June. At a meet people bring in their locomotives and rolling stock and run on the host track. There is a great deal of socializing and a good time is had by all. If you think that you might be interested in becoming a member of LOCO, we have a Trial Membership that is $35.00 and is good through the calendar year that you join. If you have any questions please call me, Robert Swift, 364-4128 (evenings). |

We are a new club, just starting on 20 acres owned by The Eastern Cascades Model Railroad Club, an HO scale club. They have invited us to start a live steam railroad on the property. The previous owner of the property had a 1 1/2 inch scale layout to go along with his interest in HO trains. At his death the property was willed to the members of the HO club, and they built a building to house their extensive layout. Alas, the track and equipment were willed to another person who has since left the state with it. We do have a turntable, a ramp with track on it to reach the turntable, three storage buildings, two trestles, a short plate bridge, and the old right-of-way. We are a sister club to the HO club, under a corporate entity that manages the property and pays the taxes. If you are in the central Oregon area and would like to check us out, email or send us a letter. Thanks |

Around 1994 the State Government approved general installation of gaming machines in clubs and hotels, and normal money raising sources dried up. A miniature railway had been considered for some time - now was the time to go ahead. A 608 metre 5' gauge loop track was built in a local park. Loco owners freely provide their services, the Lions club supplies them food, drinks and char. They are encouraged to tow passengers but are welcome to run light or tow freight. The Lions club provide all services and riding cars and sell tickets at $1.00 a ride or 15 rides for $10.00 - a ride normally being two circuits of the track. This operation has been successful beyond expectations. The track is in Mcphaerson Park, with a pleasant shaded picnic area, and free electric barbecues. Bracken Ridge is about 20 Km (13 miles) north of Brisbane City in Queensland, Australia. The trains run the fourth Sunday every month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with special runs by arrangement. |

We model 7.25" narrow gauge live steam and diesel outline on about 2000' feet of track. We operate every sunday, and work on maintenance on wednesday. We are not public, but welcome visitors to our open running days, details from me, if you are ever in this part of the world. We are situated no too far from RAF Alconbury in rural Cambridgeshire, and are making efforts to extend out half a mile or so to the nearby village sports facility. We do have a couple of US (distant) members who were serving in the USAF, and another who is a full-time resident here. Contact me (Society Secretary) for details. |
